The winch rope is controlled from the driver's in-cab position once the navigator has attached the cable to the Donkey Stick. To save valuable time the navigator can be inside the car and buckled in with the driver operating the running of the winch. The Donkey Stick keeps the cable hook up high when approaching an obstacle - handy in muddy conditions where access to the hook is limited. The cable is not under load when winding in therefore there is little chance of the winch rope bird nesting and when the Donkey Stick moves - stop winding in. It is that simple.
Note - After winching in release the winch rope enough so that the donckey stick is in the upright position. This will help to keep the integrity of your stick.
